Even More About Anti-wave

It all started when…

When Robert and Ira finished their first feature film together, they found themselves describing 30-Love as an anti-sports film.  They embraced the fact that the film shunned the typicality expected by most sports film.  The Mighty Ducks, Bad News Bears, Hardball, Cool Runnings...  the list of formulaic sports films seemed to go on and on.  While these films have their place, Robert and Ira decided to delve deeper and try to buck these trends.  In the process, they discovered that defying the trite aspects of storytelling could become a shot in the arm to filmmakers seeking to tell stories in unexpected ways.  When Robert and Ira released 30-Love in 2017, Robert wrote out a manifesto to define the filmmaking trend.

Simultaneously, Robert and then-girlfriend Rocio started a film review podcast without much direction.  Originally titled Moneyshot Podcast, the first incarnation didn't focus on Anti-wave films (which is why you can still listen to some early episodes that discuss some pretty typical Hollywood films).  When the relationship ended, Robert decided to continue the podcast, but without Rocio.  He enlisted his good buddy Ira to come onboard.  Ira had been involved with the film industry for years, writing numerous screenplays and teaching a classes at a local college.  Robert and Ira spent about a year releasing episodes under the Moneyshot Podcast moniker, but when they released 30-Love, they found that few podcasts were dedicated truly independent films.  So, they decided to get a makeover!  Using the Anti-wave manifesto as their guide, they re-christened themselves as Anti-wave Podcast.  The podcast began to focus more on films that the hosts considered Anti-wave.

And that brings us up to now.  The show is growing; the guests are interesting, and we've always got opinions.  If you haven't already, please subscribe to the podcast though iTunes, and be sure to write a review.
